In 1957, Chester Nyc started a one-man company in rented space in Franklin Park, Illinois. His small firm, called American Machinist, functioned in much the same way as a country doctor. With a kit of tools and a headful of know-how, Mr. Nyc went to Chicago-area plants to repair, rebuild, and re-tool Brown & Sharpe automatic screw machines.
Unlike some small operations which fade, fold, or fail to get off the ground, this one-man shop has done very well indeed. Now named NNT CORPORATION, it is housed in a 30,000 square foot high-bay facility in suburban Itasca, Illinois.
Although Brown & Sharpe parts, tooling, services, resales and rebuilding are an important part of the business activity, a great deal more is involved. Today, NNT is a full-service industrial supplier offering the widest range of products and services available from a single source.
